Catherine Basilicata lives
& works in Sydney, Australia

"Her writing began as a means of healing, a way in which she
could deal with the real trauma of coping with a serious illness
in her early and mid 20's. What started as her own personal experiences
at the time, however, has evolved into poetry of such rawness, passion,
and universality, that a reader is left reeling from the experience
of much of her work"

| The early themes were about strength,
perserverance and self-discovery. Her illness forced her to take a
look at the things that she had done, the distructive patterns that
were made. Catherine's poetry was a way of unburdening her negative
emotions. Her was forced to look at her whole life in a different
way. At that time of her life she was in Limbo - not knowing whether
she would recover. She believed that the majority of good writers
have experienced some major trauma, or life-changing event. A number
of appraisals from publishers that didn't publish poetry, including
WriteSpot Publishers International, whom assessed her manuscript,
had recommended her to publish Sanguinity. |

HEART
I know that I have carried you along through all my hard times.
I'm sorry for all the pain you have felt.
Before you break on me, or ask me for sympathy, I need you to see.
I realise its been long enough to say,
What I feel for you is love.
There's just one way we can learn,
Poems always get read - and now it's our time this year.
Give me time, help me through the pain,
Or we can make it through together.
You are my strength, you are my soul.
I need you more now than ever before.
Please clasp that tear...
Heart, all the hurt will soon eventually fade.
If you keep being strong - you will see this wasn't meant to be.
You have always been my closest friend,
So, lets hold on and we will be integral.
Love will return, my dear.
